tim Founder Från Sweden Medlem sedan maj 2013 tim 4 jan. 2024 16:07 @ferlex what is suggested here? A way to select a "URL slug" format that overrides the builtin -x-n? Knowing what you don't like, what do you like better?
adamchaczka LiteCart Fan Från Poland Medlem sedan okt. 2023 adamchaczka 13 jan. 2024 13:30 This URL https://www.budujto.pl/pl/p/Stiuk-wenecki-Rococo-Valpaint/540 It would look like with standard Litecart settings https://www.budujto.pl/pl/c/Dekoracje-wnetrz/Tynki-Dekoracyjne-i-strukturalne/Stiuk/Stiuk-wenecki-Rococo-Valpaint/540 The default Lite cart generates a very long path for products placed deep in the structure. URLs should be short but unique. That's why I bought the Permalinks add-on and I'm not entirely happy with it. The add-on automatically introduces modifications, turning my beautiful URL into something that is not good for Google By example Original URL https://mybudio.eu/pl/dekoracje-wnetrz-c-22/zdrowie-dekoracyjne-na-sciane-c-3/zdrowie-aksamitnej-sciany-metalico-w-zestawie-wszystkie-kolory-p-48 I wanted to change in https://mybudio.eu/pl/c-3/zdrowie-aksamitnej-sciany-metalico-w-zestawie-wszystkie-kolory-p-48 and I receive https://mybudio.eu/pl/c-3/zdrowie-aksamitnej-sciany-metalico-w-zestawie-wszystkie-kolory-p-48?category_id=3 But lets back to the topic... I believe that the additional markings like "p-48" that are automatically added to the URL are not wrong. In my case, I left the p-48 symbol in the URL because I work a lot with merchant center and Google ADS, which makes it very easy to modify and create a product feed. It should be noted that Google forces marketers to introduce each product variant separately. Campaigns are more effective and can more accurately target customer needs. If You run a small store and use Google ADS to a small extent, you don't really need additional unique markings for each product. I believe that symbols on products are necessary.

Other ways to use identifiers can be on a folder level. eg. /products/48/category-name/item-name. Or how Amazon does it /item-name-or-omitted/p/48. You can modify url_product.inc.php in the core playtform to change the way urls are generated.
adamchaczka LiteCart Fan Från Poland Medlem sedan okt. 2023 adamchaczka 15 jan. 2024 11:35 What if I kept the product and category designations. In a live example using the Permalinks add-on with: So, I'm changing oryginal slug interior-decorations-c-22/decorative-effects-on-the-wall-c-3/dew-effect-desserto-in-a-set-all-colors-p-18 on: c-22/c-3/dew-effect-desserto-in-a-set-all-colors-p-18 or simpler just: c-3/dew-effect-desserto-in-a-set-all-colors-p-18 Will it still be possible to resolve a resource without any difficulty? Do you expect any problems to show up later?

This is not related to the add-on. In general URLs have two purposes. One is to identify the route which is easiset using identifiers. Second is to feed search engines descriptive data. Permalinks are intended only for the latter.
